    I read this morning on the Access Fun website that they have launched a multi million dollar campaign aimed at providing loans to local climbing organizations as well as assistance negotiating with land managers to help preserve, maintain, and obtain climbing areas.   • Forests in Oregon Being Protected!

    I learned this morning that the Bush administration’s plan to clear cut old growth forests in Oregon has now been overturned by the Obama administration. It’s great to see things happening that are promoting conservation and preservation of the wilderness that we have left and the resources that we have left. (Now for Alaska!)   • Climbers Brew Event Review

    Our first of what we all hope to be annual Climbers Brew, held at Carolina Brewery in Chapel Hill NC, took place on Sunday night July 12! It was a huge success. We had a good crowd in attendance, a ton of great beer from Carolina Brewery, and great food as well. Climbers from all over the area showed up. People met new climbing partners, and were able to reconnect with old friends! We had a TREMENDOUS amount of gear donated to support the raffle for the Carolina Climbers Coalition. Read More…

  • The course content will cover general WFA.  There will be an emphasis on climbing and mountaineering situations.  Students successfully completing the course will get Wilderness First Aid Certification.  You take add CPR certification for another $50.  The CPR portion of the class will take place on the evening Friday, July 17 at Triangle Rock Club.
