Learning How to Plan and Be Organized from Climbing Experiences

September 12th, 2009 | Posted by: brandon

As the next installment in my ongoing series focusing on “The Climbing Experience Applied to All of Life”, I wanted to take some time to write about how climbing can actually help you learn how to be a good planner and organizer in all of life. I could probably write pages and pages about this, but I wanted to share 3 key points that I believe translate well into personal life and business life.

One of the Most Amazing Experiences of My Life…

August 6th, 2009 | Posted by: brandon

The Moore’s Wall trip was one of the most amazing climbing experiences of my life. Every moment of the experience was enjoyable, and I can’t wait to climb with Ascent Adventure Consultants again. Easily worth the six-hour drive from DC. Great guides and great experience.

Climbers Brew Event Review

July 15th, 2009 | Posted by: brandon

Our first of what we all hope to be annual Climbers Brew, held at Carolina Brewery in Chapel Hill NC, took place on Sunday night July 12! It was a huge success. We had a good crowd in attendance, a ton of great beer from Carolina Brewery, and great food as well. Climbers from all over the area showed up. People met new climbing partners, and were able to reconnect with old friends! We had a TREMENDOUS amount of gear donated to support the raffle for the Carolina Climbers Coalition. Continued to Impress Me…A True Professional

July 7th, 2009 | Posted by: brandon

Brandon is a true professional when it comes to guiding climbs. He’s an excellent teacher, and his problem solving ability is extraordinary. During the first hour of my first outdoor climb, I encountered an obstacle I didn’t think I could overcome. After twenty minutes of attempting to negotiate the obstacle, I shouted, “Brandon? I don’t think I can make it across this gap to scale that overhang the way you just did. How do we get down?” He said, “We can’t get down from there. If you can’t do it that way, let me figure something else out.” He drew from his experience and came up with a creative solution that kept me in the game. He continued to impress me throughout the trip with his patience, encouragement, and skill. I am definitely looking forward to my next climbing experience.

Learned Alot, and Will Be Signing Up Again

July 7th, 2009 | Posted by: brandon

The whole trip was wonderful. The best part for me was the Wailing Wall climb. The start of that climb was very difficult for me, and because this was toward the end of the day, I was pretty tired and feeling like I wasn’t going to be able to do it.  I did make it, with some wailing on my own at certain moments. Jason was a wonderful guide; he talked me through the scary moments and made me feel completely safe. I had only  done sport climbing prior to this trip, so Jason took the time to teach me about all of the gear involved in trad. I learned a lot and will definitely be signing up for more trips in the future. I can’t thank you enough.

A Great Day at Stone Mountain NC

July 7th, 2009 | Posted by: brandon

I just wanted to let you know that my day at Stone Mountain was pretty freaking awesome. Daniel did a great job of choosing the route to suit my goals AND the weather (the rock was still a little damp in sections, which worked fine on The Great Arch!).  He was also extremely pleasant as well as totally safety-conscious, so it was a really nice, chill day outside in beautiful weather.  If anyone ever asks me, I will definitely recommend you guys, and I’m looking forward to future trips with you!

Great Depth of Knowledge and Expertise in Climbing

July 7th, 2009 | Posted by: brandon

Brandon is a great, reliable, friendly individual with a great depth of knowledge and expertise in climbing and outdoor recreation. His passion for sharing the outdoors and climbing with others really shows through in everything he does. He’s professional but still a lot of fun, and I would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone who is considering working with him.
