Reel Rock Film Tour delivers the year’s most exciting climbing and adventure films to audiences to over 100 cities around the world. Reel Rock shows are festive events where climbers and outdoors lovers gather to celebrate their passion for adventure. Gear giveaways, appearances by top climbers, and fund raising for non profit organizations all add to the fun and community of Reel Rock Events.

A raffle to benefit the American Alpine Club will be held during the event, with generous gear and prize donations from our sponsors.

Film Making Competition

Enter your own original 2 minute climbing film into the 2009 Film Making Competition. The winner will be featured at the Reel Rock Tour, and film makers will win cash and prizes from the Reel Rock Tour sponsors, such as North Face and Petzl. Chris, Danel, and Derek, the class participants first practiced building top rope anchors using cliff top and cliff face bolts.  Being

quick learners they soon moved on to doing their first outside rappels from the of  the 90ft’ cliff.  The rappel was done using an anchor they made using natural features.  The group had fun playing on the “Parking Lot” routes of “Thin to Win,” “Chicken Bone,” and the unnamed route called “Chicken Wing” by some.

Next the group moved to the Three Bears area for practice with setting up cliff top safety lines.  After some more anchors building the threesome climbed three more routes.  The day was finished off with some belay escape practice.  It had been a day of successful day of “firsts” for everyone as all headed home with confidence in their skills to climb outside.

On the Fourth Friday night of every month, from 7:00-8:30 PM, Ascent Adventure Consultants’ professional climbing guides will demonstrate an important skill that applies to making the transition to climbing outdoors. Each month will cover a different skill.

During the 90 minute time period, the session will be repeated several times (15 minute sessions).

No sign ups are necessary, and the demo is FREE with admission to Triangle Rock Club.
